Step Two: Retirement

My last official day of teaching in Selah was June 14, 2007. I leave with excitement and high anticipation for the China position, but a certain saddness for Selah and SIS, (Selah Intermediate School). The staff is at a all time low and needs time to heal and hopefully re-connect and become a collegiate staff again. It is amazing how things change over time. Just three years ago SIS was rated after a staff survey as having the highest levels of professionalism, trust, respect, well you get the picture. I am saddened to leave during such a low point.

It is amazing how much paper, computer files and just plane stuff one accumulates over the years. It took me quite a while to get rid of it all and clean out the old files. Still had stuff from Heritage college. I used our SEA shredder quite a bit over the past few weeks.

Well the house is sold, at least that is what they tell us. We are set to close this next Friday. That means everything has to be out. That is a big deal when you have lived in a place for just over 20 years. Took posession on June 7th, 1987, Lorna and Ryan where six at the time and went to 1st grade at Terrace Heights Elementary. What fun. I have been getting pretty nostalgic the past few weeks and really so as I am taking things down and cleaning things up for storage. I had to make a video of some of the trips we took with the kids. Nice look back!

Well tomorrow we apply for our Visa to go to China. Should be a easy process. And Braden (Lorna's oldest son) graduates from 1st grade. Wow!
